The initial white ceramic fountain addressed water as a shared and threatened resource, visualizing the scale of human consumption and interspecies dependency. In 2026, the work was modified by covering its surface with black resin, obscuring the figurative details. While the fountain continues to function, the intervention shifts its meaning—from a call for solidarity toward showing that such actions remain insufficient in the face of dominant political and economic interests blocking real change. By reworking her own piece, the artist introduces a self-reflexive gesture: the transformation becomes both a continuation and a negation of the original proposition. The black coating seals the object and suspends the idea of flow as a metaphor for circulation and shared responsibility. It becomes a visual equivalent of a “business as usual” condition, shaped by systemic forces and the disproportionate impact of the wealthiest actors. The transformation also carries a personal dimension. The black surface registers a growing sense of frustration and powerlessness in the face of global interests that effectively block meaningful change—an acknowledgment of the limits of individual agency within the scale of the climate crisis. The installation brings this to life through a functioning fountain, where water continuously flows and returns, symbolising the limited cycles of nature that we all depend on. This work, composed of 2,000 ceramic tiles, was created with a clay body containing waste material sourced from the Żelazny Most in southwest Poland – one of Europe’s largest tailings reservoirs. By transforming this discarded material into hand-made tiles, the work invites us to reflect on the hidden costs of extraction and how our consumer choices shape both ecology and society. I explore how mining waste can be reused and turned into ceramic. This change – from waste to something useful and symbolic – opens a way of thinking about value and care. It also follows William Morris’s idea of craft: working with respect for the material and building social bonds.One of my inspirations was the craftsmanship of the Meissen table fountain The Triumph of Amphitrite [ Am-fi-TRAI-ti] , made by Joachim Kendler and now in the V&amp;A. It showed human power through nature and was used for washing hands. In The Ripple Effect hands are also important – I invite people to touch the tiles and reflect. But I want to show something different: that we do not exist without nature. The work comments on extractive activities: the relentless digging, drilling, and mining of minerals that fuel industry and technological development, while simultaneously causing environmental degradation and destabilising ecosystems. The fountain is made of stoneware coated with glossy black glaze, its surface flecked with tiny red spots of paint. This colour palette evokes associations with both crude oil and suffering. The sculpture is visibly bent and deformed, as if under the pressure of forces that shape and wound it. Its form alludes to the image of the Earth buckling under the strain of continuous extraction. The small scale of the piece is of particular significance. The climate catastrophe is an issue of enormous magnitude one we often struggle to fully imagine or feel. In this work, the theme is deliberately reduced to an intimate, modest object that can be observed closely and surrounded with attention. The miniature fountain becomes a defenceless being, a material testimony to suffering whose true extent usually escapes our perception. While a fountain is typically an object associated with life, renewal, and progress, here it becomes a vessel for a bitter reflection on the oppressiveness of our actions towards the planet and towards ourselves. The trickles of water running down the curved walls of the fountain resemble tears or drops of oil. The work becomes a sombre commentary on the irreversible consequences of civilisation’s development at the expense of natural resources, of which we are part—both as perpetrators and as victims. The sound the fountain produces is a blend of the natural murmur of flowing water and the quiet noise of the pump mechanism. The fountains tell the story of climate change from the perspective of water, the cobalt “water catchers” remind us that water is a priceless resource that needs to be cherished, shared and protected collectively, while the composition of ceramic tiles forms a visual story about its limited availability. The work encourages reflection on our interdependence, solidarity and cooperation – critical values in pursuing a safe and sustainable future. The materials used also hold significance – the clay from which the objects are made is part of the soil, and soil is the foundation of life for all organisms. The voice of nature in this sculpture is the falling drops and the sound of water, which are the sound of the fountain, pouring through the successive elements of this porcelain-white, richly ornamented, baroque composition.&nbsp; Each element has been chosen to talk about a specific issue directly related to water in the context of climate change. They include a tractor, ears of wheat, oil, gold, a donkey, ruderal plants, mice, palm trees, pine trees, butterflies, avocados and cows, among others. The Ouroboros snake, eating its own tail, and the closed water cycle symbolise an inescapable truth: the consequences of our actions towards the environment will sooner or later come back to us. For example - the production of 1 kg of meat consumes as much as 16,000 litres of water, the equivalent of about 100 baths. Insanity. What is important in this work is the symbolism of the fountain itself, which in culture refers to life, renewal and abundance. Here they are shown as if in a distorted mirror. I also consciously draw on a material that has been used for centuries to tell stories through decoration. Ceramics in past centuries showcased exotic fauna and flora, elements of distant cultures or important historical events. It has been a vehicle for storytelling in its history, reflecting the aesthetics and symbolism of its time. They emerged from the previous project entitled My Body Leads Me Down A Winding Path. I was encouraged to create a separate series of works (which is still in the process) by the voices of women who share experience of their femininity. Women who teach society how to talk about the body with dignity, without taboos, in a beautiful way and with&nbsp; freedom. Talking about the feelings associated with growing up as a girl, discovering pleasure and one's own uniqueness, as well as with aging and the body changing over time. Non-verbal knowledge built as a result of physical experience, closely related to body movement, became the starting point for me to create these group of works. In a non-verbal way, I join the public debate on this topic. Through abstract forms, I create narratives whose interpretation I leave open, so as to give them to each recipient for individual reading. It holds countless memories - gestures, interactions, feelings. Using clay, with its technical and historical memory, I convey personal stories through abstract forms, examining expressive juxtapositions: performance vs. passivity, craft vs. art, and, above all, object vs. subject. Vibrant colors (engobes) intensify thrown clay traces, symbolizing non-verbal knowledge: flows, intuition, premonitions, emotionality, and memories recalled by contact with clay. The integral frame, acting as a backrest, embeds the physical matter and animate history of the clay's territory. This evolving territory becomes both the subject and object of knowledge emerging in the creative process. I aim to unveil tensions in physical matter - personal and collective unspoken stories, places, and contexts converging in each piece's intricate mosaic. Europe. They are a tribute to that moment in the history of pottery, when the craftsperson first imagined a form beyond the vessel. The only decoration here is a striped chiaroscuro created as a result of traces of the potter’s fingers clearly left on the material. Tiles named Stereo [from the gr. stereós ‚constituting a solid’] through their three-dimensional, plasticity and spatiality show the uniqueness of each throwing movement. The sound not only determines the rhythm of the ritual, but also mediates communication between man and matter. Water connects all living things and it is essential for the proper functioning of living organisms, just like trace amounts of cobalt that make blue stains. Contemporary environmental movements drawing on the concept of soundscape pay attention to forms of interspecie communication. These mechanisms can only be discovered in the process of deep listening. Water as an environment for the propagation of sound waves, also in the bands inaudible to humans, is a symbol of the hidden and mysterious world.
